A 30 Minute Musical....

Whitby lifeboat crew have put to sea for more than two centuries, putting their lives before others. It is what connects the iconic Victorian hero, Henry Freeman and the crew today. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Live music from award-winning composer, Alastair Collingwood, who has written for the West End, TV shows including French & Saunders and with Jackie Clune, has starred in shows for BBC Radio 2. Herny Feeman is played by Alan Williams, seen recently in TV series, including Chernobyl and The Capture and the film, Peterloo. His many earlier TV appearences include Coronation Street, Casualty and Father Brown. Faith Beckett is played by Bronte Tadman whose theatre credits include Wind in the Willows, A Christmas Carol, Peppa Pig’s Adventure and roles as diverse as Lady Macbeth and Cinderella. The production is written and directed by Antony Bellekom

The Whitby Community Choir

As the boats set off to sea there remain those left behind, watching and waiting for their safe return. A concert performance with songs and readings tells the story of those left on the quays and cliffs of Whitby. As true now as it has been over the centuries. Founded in 2004, the Whitby Community Choir has participated in Street Choir Festivals throughout the UK. The choir’s Musical Director is Rebecca Deniff from Flash Company Arts

Rescued!

Meet Mary Roberts, survivor of the Rohilla Disaster off Whitby in 1914... just two years after she was rescued from The Titanic. A mother of five, Mary spent most of her life at sea, undeterred by disaster. Now she arrives to attend a lecture on saving lives at sea, but who could know more about the bravery and tragedy than her? Cast: Sarah Gain has perfomed for both theatre and film, so has tackled Shakespeare - Much Ado About Nothing - and House of Screaming Death. Sarah also has her own peoduction company. Roberta Bellekom has recently appeared in Villain, Interupted and the revival of Rotterdam and toured nationally in David Walliam's Awful Auntie. Roberta also wrote the script for this short play.
